11/13/17 Raiatea Week 7 - H_ to be Baptized, Road Flooded, Apologies

Iaorana Tatou!

Pretty views are just everywhere here. I can't handle it.

So this week was super cool! We were able to have H_ interviewed for baptism and SHE'S ALL SET TO BE BAPTIZED WEDNESDAY!!! I'm so happy for her! She really has grown and changed so much! I think that's my favorite thing about the mission, just being able to witness firsthand how the gospel changes people.

Cool sunset just before a Faatamaaraa (Dinner Appointment)
So we had a super freaky experience this week. We went to a lesson in the morning and when we left it started raining. At first we weren't too worried because it rains all the time but then it started raining even more and WE SAW LIGHTNING just about us. It's so bizzare because neither of us had ever seen lightning before. We "might have" called Mamie and she "might have" laughed at us because we're scared of thunder. Anyway, we pulled over to wait for it to lighten up because there was no way our investigator was going to come out in that downpour, and when we looked at a road across from us we saw tons of water just pouring over the road.

Our mudslide that made us change our mind and go home.
Anyway, we decided it was in our best interest to turn back and go home because a lot of our roads are low and near the ocean. Thank heavens we did. We had to drive through like 6 inches of water in some parts and there were other parts I wasn't sure if we were going to make it. It's all good now though!
When you're cold in French Polynesia. Put on socks and wrap yourself in a sheet!

So something cool that happened this week was we went and visited an inactive member of the church who says he won't come back to church until someone in the church apologies for something they did. We were able to testify of the importance of going to church and partaking of the Sacrament when all of the sudden I just started crying. The spirit was just so strong and I think we really touched him. We extended the invitation to come back to church and to stop waiting for an apology to receive all the blessings waiting for him. He didn't come this week, but I'm hoping we were able to remind him a little bit of what the spirit feels like.

Always remember that it's never a good idea to wait to receive blessings! God wants to help us through our lives, and we can start receiving blessings as soon as we turn to him!

Love you all! Have an amazing week!
