5/14/18 Pirae 2 Week 16 - Waffle Surprise, R__ our New Investigator,

Iaorana tatou!

So this week was amazing! First of all, last Pday was so fun. We went to a beach and hung out with Soeur ma's district. After we came back and played some volleyball with everyone. Newsflash: I'm still really bad at volleyball, and may or may not have hit it into the ocean. Thankfully it didn't go in past our knees so an elder sacrificed to go in to get it. That night we had a Soirée Famillial that was so fun! I had never met this family, but honestly they're the best. They even fed us waffles for dessert! I haven't had waffles in who knows how long, and Soeur Fowers can testify that just the night before I said "I wish we had waffles." Moral of the story: God looks after his missionaries.

We got a new DMP this week (ward mission leader), and he's already doing such a good job! He loves working with us and has managed to get a lot of our ward involved! He's very good at making sure people feel loved and valued. Already ward missionaries who were inactive have started coming back just because he went out of his way to tell them that he needs them.

So last week we met this guy named R__ when we were contacting and he's so cool! We've already done 3 lessons with him because he had a lot of time off from work this week but he really enjoys meeting with us! It's so different teaching him because he has a lot of different beliefs from what I'm used to. For one thing he believes in things like meditation, Budda, that Mohammad was a prophet, and got really offended when he figured out that Gandhi had gone to spirit prison instead of paradise to await baptism. It's so different teaching someone who doesn't already have Christian beliefs and I am so out of my comfort zone with teaching him. He came to church yesterday though, so that's a good sign!

Speaking of Sunday HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! I got to skype my whole family so that was pretty special. They're still weird, so that's good! Nothing's changed!
Haven't Seen Soeur Sellers in over a year. At Christmas the connection was bad. She could see us, but we couldn't see her.

With her companion, Soeur Fowers
Something that really touched me this week was during one of our lessons with R__. He was asking a ton of questions about the church and how big it was in America. Actually I can't even remember what brought it up but I just felt the need to tell him about the starts of the church. How it started with only six people in a small room and kept growing despite all of the opposition. Despite the extermination order in Missouri, despite the fact that Joseph Smith was murdered in cold blood, and despite the need to flee all the way out West THE CHURCH KEPT GROWING. After I had finished testifying about all of this, he just said, "It's always like that for God's people." I just felt the spirit so strongly in that moment that it is like that for God's people in every single dispensation. If you experience opposition in your life because of your belief's GOOD! It's a sign that you're on the right path! Keep on that path! There is always a promised land for those who trust in God!

Anyway, I really love you all! Have a great week!
