8/6/18 Puurai Week 4 - H_'s Baptism, Sister Training Leader

Image
Iaorana tatou! This week was super awesome, but if I'm being honest I forgot most of it... apologies  to my family, friends, and future posterity.  For pday we watched a church movie with our district which would have been awesome, but the computer kept starting the movie over... oh well. We got to see everyone when they're at their worst, so it was a good time.  We got to go to the temple this week! It's such a privilege to go, and we really enjoyed it! We tried to take pictures at the end on self timer... it kind of worked, but there are some epic fails coming your way. ;)  I had my first STL split as the STL ( sister training leader), and it was so fun! It's always a party to get to see how other people teach and work. We might have gotten lost a couple times, and I might have said a few utterly stupid things, but life goes on. We ended up getting pizza at the end and celebrating. Good times.  Ok, Best for last: the...

6/25/18 Pirae 2 Week 21 - Teaching Miracle, Puppy Hiking

Image
Iaorana Tatou! So this week was AWESOME! We had a lot of crazy things happen that made it interesting and a lot of good things happen too!  1st of all: Our Soirée familial was very interesting. They had invited the Zone Leaders to come and the ZL's planned a game and lesson. Little did we know that this game had to do with the golden rule and would result in me crawling around on the floor barking like a dog, and Soeur Fowers dancing while singing "Alouette." Good times. This week I had my split with the STL's (sister training leaders) and we had a miracle happen! We had planned to drop this family because they weren't really progressing and they had been taking the lessons a long time, but because an STL was going to be there instead of Soeur Fowers, we decided it would be better to wait until the next lesson. So we did our weekly planning and it was really good, but I think God wanted us to teach another lesson. Anyway, after we did our P...

11/27/17 Week 9 - Teaching Law of Chastity, the Grippe, Jacob 5

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! So this week was awesome! For starters I went on a split with one of the STL's (a sister training leader) and it went super well! We went to see E_ and G_ and they're both doing really well! I learned how to teach the law of chastity in Tahitian, which was an adventure for sure.  We got sick this week! I got what they call the "grippe" which is actually just a cold, but man did it do me over. I had aches and pains everywhere, but we still had a full day so we went to our first lesson, went to the church parking lot and slept in the car, and then finished our other lesson. What a party.  So this week we read Jacob 5 (in the Book of Mormon) together as a house and it was actually the coolest thing ever. We found so much stuff I had never noticed and it was amazing. From now on it will not be something I dread to read!  So we actually did not do a lot this week, but I love you all!!! Have a great week!  Also: guess who forgot the...

8/14/17 Huahine Week 9 - A New Companion, Rolling Down a Mountain, A Stranger Takes Off with the Car

Image
Iorana! Hope everyone's weeks went well! I know mine sure did!  A New Companion and Too Much In Common!!! Ok, STORY TIME!!! Once upon a time there was a Sister named Sister Sellers who was called to serve a mission on the beautiful island Huahine. Her trainer, Soeur Wissocq was so wonderful that when transfers came she was moved to a neighboring island called Raiatea to become an STL. Poor sister Sellers was so nervous! Who was her new companion going to be? Would they get along? Would she snore? All she had was the name the Assistants had given her, but neither her nor Soeur Wissocq had ever met Soeur Miller. Lo and behold, all of her fears vanished when she saw Soeur Miller in the airport. She could already tell they were going to be amazing friends and have wonderful adventures together. One of those adventures happened to be about 5 minutes after they first met. They loaded Soeur Miller's luggage into the car and Soeur Sellers handed Soeur Miller the keys to their ...

5/26/17 MTC Week 7 - Learning 2 Opposite Languages - Insights, Tahitian good for knowing it one day...

Iaorana!  Tahitian vs. French - Calling Other Missionaries to Repentance So last week I spelled it "yorana" because that's how it's pronounced, but that means "hello" in Tahitian! We started Tahitian this week a wow am I in over my head. So with French at least I had a couple years in high school and it is really similar to English, but Tahitian is nothing like English... Like at all. The grammar is really simple though, so that makes my job easy compared to French, but none of the words are close to English. Take repentance for example, in Tahitian it's Tatarahapa. For a couple days now we've been using that as a greeting for people who don't know Tahitian. They think we're saying hello when we're in fact calling them to repentance.  Pronunciation is also really simple. YOU PRONOUNCE EVERYTHING. Almost the complete opposite of French. ;) Anyway, if you have an extra minute remember me in your prayers!!! I'll need all the help...

5/5/17 MTC Week 4 - Mimi, STL, Elder Rasband, Large Zone, Favorites

Image
Reminder: Address for any letters or packages in the next 6 weeks: Sister Lindsay Dianne Sellers JUN13 TAHI-PAP 2005 N 900 E Unit 100 Provo, UT 84602 Bonjour! The French is still really tough and I'm kinda strugglin, but it'll be ok. :) We got a new investigator this week! Her name is Mimi and she owns like 20 cats. (Apparently all these investigators are people our teachers ran into on their missions... who knew?) She loves the missionaries and knows the Book of Mormon is true, but doesn't want to ask if the church is true because she doesn't want to join our church... We picked her up from some other sisters who taught her and we're surprised we are still teaching her because she has no desire to know the truth. She just likes having the sisters over so she has someone to talk to. Any tips? So  on Sunday  Soeur Kendall and I were called to be the STL's (Sister Training Leaders). Basically we just carry a phone around (a super aweso...
