5/7/18 Pirae 2 Week 15 - Great Things & One Crazy Rooster

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! So much has happened this week and to be honest I forgot about 95% of it. Desolé. In summary: we fixed the baptism of V_, a family we've been teaching for a while ALL came to church for the first time, T_ is officially not interested but L_ still wants the lessons, we saw a crazy chicken (more on that later), we went to V_'s house and looked at pictures of Jerusalem TWICE and she agreed to talk with Soeur Ma (her missionaries), and we found out an amie we had been teaching for a long time is actually a member. 😩 In other words this week was actually great. V_ is the daughter of less active parents who are starting to come back to church and she's so excited to get baptized! She's nine and didn't really grow up with the gospel so it's been so fun to see her learn and grow!!!  Totally Adorable V_ Ok, honestly everything was so awesome this week, but the real highlight of this week came from a really stressed out rooster...

4/2/18 Papeete Week 10 - Great News, General Conference, Easter, Sunburns

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! So this email might be a little short because we don't have a lot of time to email today, but know that I love you all even if it's short and a little lame. ;) This p-day we walked around a gigantic park in Papeete and Souer Bready got really sunburned, but we got some pretty wonderful pictures so it was worth it. No regrets. Unless she gets skin cancer. Then all the regret.  Before We Got Sunburned In other news... L_ AND T_ AGREED TO GET MARRIED THE 12 OF MAY !!! (Fireworks and probably the national anthem in the background) It was so cool because we just brought a member with us and once she heard about the problem she knew exactly what to say. She bore her testimony about the day she was sealed and at the end just said "being sealed for time and all eternity is the best gift you can give to your daughter for her birthday, because after that NOTHING can take her away from you." T_ totally started crying and the spirit was so ...

10/30/17 - Raiatea Week 5 - No Miles or Money, Car "Lift" Again, Jason Our New Amie, Papi in a Lawn Chair

Image
Iaorana tatou! So this week wasn't as action packed as we had hoped because we decided against going to Tahaa, but never fear fabulous things happened instead! I feel like this whole week was just us me and Soeur Nicholls trying our best and nothing really worked out, but we did get some cool stories.  Our Healthy Life Choices - Cake and Baguettes Out of Miles/Out of Money First of all we are already over our amount of kilometers we are allowed to go (a big no-no), so we decided to take some food with us into our sector and just eat lunch in the back of our car. Turns out we are also broke because we get paid after today, so all we really had in the house was a cake members made us on a whim (thank heavens) and a baguette. Ah, mission life. Anyway, we got a couple weird looks from people driving by to just see two sister missionaries eating chocolate cake in the trunk of their car, but I mean, if you don't get weird looks every once in a while are you even living? ...

10/9/17 Raiatea Week 2 - Hitimahana, Annual Boat Races, More Street Art

Iaorana Tatou!  So this week was super exciting and interesting. Soeur Nicholls was sick so we stayed at home a lot when we didn't have lessons, so I ended up studying a lot of Tahitian. I feel like I don't remember any of it, though. Help.  Taaha Island From Our Hike Neighboring Islands P-day was super awesome! We ended up doing a pretty easy hike that had an amazing view! It's so cool being able to see Bora and Tahaa just next door! Pretty soon we'll have the Hawaiki Nui which is the biggest Va'a race ever. They go from Huahine to Raiatea and then to Bora or something like that which is super crazy long. Anyway, people get super pumped about it so I can't wait to see it!  Us at our finest... (aka when half of my face is gone) Car Troubles Continue STORYTIME!!! Once upon a time there was a sister from America and because she was from America she didn't have to drive manual and her life was perfect up until the day she suddenly ha...
