7/16/18 Puurai Week 1 - Transferred, J_'s Baptism, Tour of Island

Image
IAORANA TATOU!!! More Moana Ocean This week was crazy! First of all Soeur Fowers got super sick while we did our P-day activity of criving around the island. I thought she was crazy for always turning the AC off because I was DYING, but that night she had a 104 fever. Members came and drugged her up and two days later all was well. We did get some pretty cool photos though. (Not from here being sick but from sightseeing) Soeur Fowers in pain and very cold. She's such a trooper. Ok, So transfers were a thing this week and I GOT TRANSFERED! Not very far away, but now I am in the city of Faaa and it's a party. My new companion is Soeur Randriantsoa and she's from Madagascar. She's super short and cute!!! I'm very excited to serve with her. A few of you might be wondering "What happened to Soeur Fowers?" and LET ME TELL YOU! Drumroll please.... She's training. That's right, my little baby missionary who got here 3 months ag...

4/23/18 Pirae 2 Week 13 - Training a New Missionary, Sisters Conference, Good-byes

Image
Iaorana Tatou!   The sunset last night This last week continued to be hard for our amis, but we're still positive and happy! We did have a lot of cool things happen this week, like we had a muli-zone sisters conference with Soeur Fox (our mission president's wife). It was very inspiring and at the end we all colored some notes we could give to our amis or while contacting. It was so funny because you would never find coloring as part of the schedule at an Elders conference. So a miracle that happened this week was we went to the hospital with some sisters to get some tests done (because we're the missionary taxi, but we don't mind) and normally we thought we were just going to go and drop them off, but we decided to stay and Soeur Bready struck up a conversation with someone in the waiting room. Turns out she has cancer and was there to go through some tests. We continued talking and found out that she actually took the missionary lesson...

1/29/18 Week 1 - Transferred to Tahiti, Saying Good-bye

Image
Iaorana tatou!!! Transferred to the Big Island So transfers came and went and I got transferred! I left the beautiful island of Raiatea to go to... you guessed it, bora bora! Just kidding, I actually came to tahiti, but I landed on bora bora before landing on tahiti, so i'd say that counts. I got transferred right into the city of Papeete which is kinda scary because I'll be driving and they drive like maniacs here. On the plus side they do have a mcdonalds here, and it will be greatly appreciated.  English Suffers Due to New Keyboard This week we had zone conference and it was amazing. It's always so wonderful to see president ma!  And don't worry, I didn't crash the car this time. (p.s. if my email is a little weird this time it's because I'm typing on a french keyboqrd for the first time).  A New Investigator Ok, so Saturday morning we said goodbye to another sister who's going home! I's so crazy to see people...

12/18/17 Raiatea - Week 12 Staying Together, Heat Exhaustion, Ward Activity

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!!  The Ride Over Staying Together So this week was a little rough... but a lot of awesome things happened!!! For starters we had transfers and BOTH SOEUR NICHOLLS AND I ARE STAYING!!! It was like a rule when President Bize was here that sisters didn't stay together longer than 2 transfers, but President Fox is turning things upside down! We're so excited to stay together because we get to be together for both of our birthday's, Christmas, New Years, both of our halfway marks (January 12), and who could forget Martin Luther King Day? It will be a non-stop party. Also, Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope it's magical! C hristmas is actually pretty big here! Mamie is even going to buy a turkey and everything. Super stoked. I can't wait to be able to Skype my family!  Tahitian Oven. It's like a super huge dutch oven in the ground.  Heat Exhaustion So something crazy that happened this week was that I almost DIED. So r...

9/25/17 Huahine Week 15 (Week 24 To Date) - Being Transferred to Neighboring Island Raiatea

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! BREAKING NEWS: I am leaving the beautiful island of Huahine and my wonderful companion Soeur Miller to go next door to Raiatea. It’s kind of funny because that’s exactly what Soeur Wissocq (my trainer) did, and it’s normal for sisters to serve in the islands only once. I guess it runs in the family! ;) Also, I’m going to the area Soeur Kendall (my MTC comp) was just in! Talk about a small world! We’re also doing a whitewash which means that both me and my companion will both be new to the sector. Pray for us, she’s only been in French Polynesia for 3 weeks longer than me. Maybe a special fast is in order… Just kidding, it’ll be great! Also we’ll be in a car and  neither of us know how to drive manual , so you might hear more driving adventures. Normally I would fly today, but I fly out  on Wednesday  morning because SOEUR MILLER IS GOING TO BE A MOM! She’s training someone new when I leave! I’m so excited for her, and I know she’s going to be awe...

9/18/17 Huahine Week 14 - Whales, Christelle's Baptism, Belief a Choice

Image
Bonjour toute le monde!!! Christelle with Husband, Arthur and Hazael   Ping-Pong P-day So I actually had a super crazy awesome week, I have so much to tell y’all!!! So for starters for P-day we played ping pong with the elders and a member, and I was actually decent by the end! Take that, college friends, who always kicked my butt at ping pong! We also went on an adventure to the beach and took some super awesome pictures so be prepared for that!  Real Whales Sighted WE SAW WHALES!!! We didn’t have a Faatamaaraa (dinner appointment) one day so we ate our lunch at the beach because why not, and Soeur Miller noticed a bunch of water blowing up and we saw a huge family of whales just chilling chez nous ! (At Home) None of them decided to jump for us, but we saw tons of tails. How cool is that??? Soeur Mapuhi and Her Aunt from America So do you all remember Jean and Eugene? We’ve been at their house a lot for dinners because Soeur Mapuhi is super kind, ...

8/14/17 Huahine Week 9 - A New Companion, Rolling Down a Mountain, A Stranger Takes Off with the Car

Image
Iorana! Hope everyone's weeks went well! I know mine sure did!  A New Companion and Too Much In Common!!! Ok, STORY TIME!!! Once upon a time there was a Sister named Sister Sellers who was called to serve a mission on the beautiful island Huahine. Her trainer, Soeur Wissocq was so wonderful that when transfers came she was moved to a neighboring island called Raiatea to become an STL. Poor sister Sellers was so nervous! Who was her new companion going to be? Would they get along? Would she snore? All she had was the name the Assistants had given her, but neither her nor Soeur Wissocq had ever met Soeur Miller. Lo and behold, all of her fears vanished when she saw Soeur Miller in the airport. She could already tell they were going to be amazing friends and have wonderful adventures together. One of those adventures happened to be about 5 minutes after they first met. They loaded Soeur Miller's luggage into the car and Soeur Sellers handed Soeur Miller the keys to their ...
