9/3/18 Puurai Week 8 - French Companion, Driving Issues Yet Again, Miracles

My Companion Soeur Mortier from France Iaorana Tatou!!! So, This week was actually crazy. It always is the week after transfers. We went to the airport 3 times, drove all over the planet, and went and picked up a new sister from presidents house! Other than that not much happened... Just kidding! Y'all thought you were done hearing about car adventures, but AITA PAHAIA. So throwback to the MTC when Soeur Kendall and I were together! She just got back from being on an island pretty far away, and she was transferred into an area where she would be driving stickshift. Our Church Building, the Prettiest on the Island Anyway, we talked with the Assistants and got permission for her to practice before her test on our car in a church parking lot. Now, I was feeling pretty confident I could help her because I have taught two people how to drive and after a couple minutes we were feeling pretty good about it. And then we stalled on the only hill in the parking l...

Iaorana tatou! Flying Cockroaches So about last week, I totally forgot to tell y'all about an experience with flying cockroaches. There was a cockroach in the house and Soeur Basset being the fast thinking human that she is handed me a empty container to trap it in. You heard that right-- yours truly caught a cockroach. I did not kill this cockroach because we were too afraid to move the box because when they're mad, they fly in your face and hard pass on angry-cockroach-to-the-face, but we did put a couple books on it and left it in the middle of our kitchen floor for a couple days. True story. Eventually Soeur Basset was brave enough and killed it, but it was in our kitchen for a good 2 or 3 days. The Local Mall and Johnny Lingo Returns This week was absolutely crazy, so be prepared. For starters, last P-day we went to the Marché in Papeete and it is HUGE. I'll put a picture below but it is gigantic. You can find anything there from handmade pearl ...

Bonjour!!! Zone Conference in Raiatea Flying to Raiatea! So this has been another AWESOME week and I can't wait to tell y'all about it! You know how I said last week we might be going to Raiatea for zone conference? Well dreams do come true! We flew out pretty early  Wednesday  morning and were able to spend the night in Raiatea! It was really weird having a 15 minute plane flight, but what can you expect when you can literally see Raiatea from our little island? ;) It was so cool! It was also very disorienting to be with all three of the companions I've had so far. At one point Soeur Wissocq said "companion" and I responded instead of her current companion. Tears may or may not have been shed once we realized the mistake. Honestly though, I've been so lucky with all of the companions I've had so far! They've all taught me something new and have helped me become a better missionary! Both Soeur Kendall and Soeur Wissocq are doing amazing ri...

Bonjour tout le monde!!! The stones are like a sacred place here. Their ancestors placed them here in that way and now people get married and stuff there. Pretty cool stuff. Packages from America So this week was awesome! For starters both Soeur Miller and I got packages from our families! So blessed! And I got something in said package that will allow me to upload pictures, so life is good again!!! Be prepared for tons of pictures!!!  Bicycles Bad!! So you know how I was so excited we weren't going to be on bikes? I spoke too soon. Our new elder has knee problems and can't bike everyday so we're sharing with the elders now. They have it every  Friday -M onday  and we have it the rest of the week. And surprise surprise: Riding a bike in a skirt is not easy. I am really impressed with all of those sister missionaries who have come before us because it is actually the worst. I think I've managed to flash everyone on this island.    oh well, what ...
