7/23/18 Puurai Week 2 - Spiral Staircases, Swiss Shoes, Soeur Randriantsoa

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! This week was super crazy! It's always weird changing sectors and learning names and streets all over again, but it's even weirder after being in the same sector for 6 months... It's like leaving home all over again. Little by little I'm starting to kinda figure out where things are and who all our amis are, and I'm really coming to love Puurai! Our house is GIGANTIC and is more than enough space for all six of us who live there. My only complaints about the house is that we have a spiral staircase (I'm coming to find that I have a slight fear of spiral staircases) that is actually the devil. It is so steep and I think I say a prayer every time I go up or down. My second complaint is that our toilet is in a space made for dwarfs. I am not a very tall human being, but I am certainly not a dwarf. I have bonked my head more than once... There will be photos next week so y'all can appreciate my new home!  This ...

4/2/18 Papeete Week 10 - Great News, General Conference, Easter, Sunburns

Image
Iaorana Tatou!!! So this email might be a little short because we don't have a lot of time to email today, but know that I love you all even if it's short and a little lame. ;) This p-day we walked around a gigantic park in Papeete and Souer Bready got really sunburned, but we got some pretty wonderful pictures so it was worth it. No regrets. Unless she gets skin cancer. Then all the regret.  Before We Got Sunburned In other news... L_ AND T_ AGREED TO GET MARRIED THE 12 OF MAY !!! (Fireworks and probably the national anthem in the background) It was so cool because we just brought a member with us and once she heard about the problem she knew exactly what to say. She bore her testimony about the day she was sealed and at the end just said "being sealed for time and all eternity is the best gift you can give to your daughter for her birthday, because after that NOTHING can take her away from you." T_ totally started crying and the spirit was so ...

12/6/17 Raiatea Week 10 - Singing at Fireside, Conference, A Car Accident (Week 35 to Date)

Image
IAORANA TATOU!!! We made Book of Mormon Risk because we were really sick last week and had to stay home... It actually works super well! Dice here are like $5 each though, but I'd say it's a good investment. Singing Fireside So this week was actually the craziest! Well, I guess not this week but like the past couple days. Anyway, to start we had an awesome Coin Feu (fireside) with the theme "Light the World" in one of the Elders' wards. We all came and sang a musical number which sounded pretty good considering not very many of us can sing. ;) But it was so good, all of the 5 investigators there agreed to take the missionary lessons! I'd say that's a little miracle! We'll do one in our sector this Sunday.  Tracting! (There are some houses down there we can't get to by car) Meeting New Old Investigators The Crazy Amount of Eggs We Have in Our Fridge Our P-day was moved to Wednesday this week because we had a confe...

8/7/17 Huahine Week 8 - Sacred Eels, Bad Cuts, Upcoming Baptisms

Image
Bonjour Tout le Monde! What I Must Look Like Looking for Worksheets for English Class Keeping the Car, Sacred Eels, and Bad Cuts I know you're sick of hearing this, but this week was another amazing week! We actually didn't have to give up the car!!! I guess President Fox heard about our plight, remembered how large our area was, and took pity on us. Thank heavens because we had our Zone leaders come and visit us! Because they were here, we did a couple touristy things with them. We bought some canned mackerel and fed these gigantic eels that are longer than my arm! They're called "Sacred Eels" and we drew quite a crowd of tourists and native kids by feeding them. I don't have any pictures because I cut my hand on the can pretty bad (I know, classic Soeur Sellers) and I didn't want to get blood everywhere. Sorry! Afterwards we took them to a couple beaches with great views, but were thwarted in our plans of a scenic view by a couple of "ina...

7/24/17 Huahine Week 6 - New Mission President, Bug Bites, Large Moths, Backing Accidents

Iorana Tatou! (For those of you who are unaware, Tatou means everyone) Coconut Bread So this week flew by! That's what happens when you're busy! I learned how to make that wonderful coconut bread I love more than life, and unfortunately I cannot make it in the U.S. I'm pretty much heartbroken, but time heals all wounds... or so they say. Teaching with President and Sister Fox and Bug Bites Sister Wissocq's - When You Want to Study Outside But Happen to Be Allergic To Bug Bites Our mission president came this week! Since he's new he was meeting all the missionaries and touring all the islands so we got to be his chauffeurs for the day! It was really fun because Sister Fox is about where I'm at with French and President Fox was a little rusty, so we all got French lessons from Soeur Wissocq. We got to teach a couple lessons with him and his wife and that was super cool! Sam was like a little boy on Christmas when he found out he got to meet ...
