​Iaorana!  Tahitian vs. French - Calling Other Missionaries to Repentance So last week I spelled it "yorana" because that's how it's pronounced, but that means "hello" in Tahitian! We started Tahitian this week a wow am I in over my head. So with French at least I had a couple years in high school and it is really similar to English, but Tahitian is nothing like English... Like at all. The grammar is really simple though, so that makes my job easy compared to French, but none of the words are close to English. Take repentance for example, in Tahitian it's Tatarahapa. For a couple days now we've been using that as a greeting for people who don't know Tahitian. They think we're saying hello when we're in fact calling them to repentance.  Pronunciation is also really simple. YOU PRONOUNCE EVERYTHING. Almost the complete opposite of French. ;) Anyway, if you have an extra minute remember me in your prayers!!! I'll need all the help...

Hey everyone!!! Started out the week right by calling my family!!! They're all just dying without me, but I know a mission is where I need to be. ;) Just kidding, they're all doing well and mom is just as awesome as ever! Dad is finally done with seminary and to quote him "I'm free like a little birdie." Needless to say he's crazy excited. On Tuesday  we had the opportunity to hear from the Primary General President Joy B. Jones! She was super awesome and the devotional was one of the most inspiring devotionals. She brought up the story in Mark 2 which is the story of the four men who lowered a man with the palsy through the roof to get to Jesus. She then asked "to what extent are you willing to go to bring a soul to Christ?" In that moment I felt like I would go across the world to help someone see the blessings of the restored gospel, and the thing is,  in three weeks  I am! Hey Everyone!!! I remembered to bring my journal this time so hopefully my email will be more interesting!  We lost a district of Canadians this week and miss them tons! They left super early in the morning and then that night we had a devotional from a member of the 70 who used to be the mission president of their mission. It was crazy! He actually spoke last General Conference and gave a talk that I read in personal study a couple days before he came. His talk was entitled "Whatever He Saith Unto You, Do It." And I highly recommend you read it. Once again I actually liked his wife's talk better. She spoke about the miracle of the loaves and fishes and pointed out that Christ could have created a grand feast out of thin air, but he used what they already had a made a miracle. When it feels like you have nothing to offer the Lord but some stale bread and old dried fish he can make a miracle out of you and me! He could do his work himself, but he chooses to do it ...

We picked her up from some other sisters who taught her and we're surprised we are still teaching her because she has no desire to know the truth. Dear Mere, I am getting used to being called Soeur Sellers and if anyone messes up and calls me Lindsay I almost don't respond! I have two teachers, Soeur Kimball and Frere Vanderholm. Soeur Kimball has been with us the whole time and Frere Vanderholm was our "investigator" Tamatoa for the first two weeks. Soeur Kimball is super funny and crazy sweet! Frere Vanderholm is really intense. I don't know how else to explain him. He is super passionate about the gospel and loves teaching too. A normal class involves lots of getting up and sharing with neighbors. Sunday this week was bonkers. It started out as just another Sunday, but Soeur Kendall and I watched a talk by Elder Holland and it was TRES BIEN!!!!! I even wrote in my journal that "I thought I wasn't going to get much out of today because none of the talks stood out and now I know why. The Lord in his mercy knew I couldn't handle more of the spirit than what I'm feeling now....

​Hello everyone!!! This week has been crazy awesome so I hope I can get it all in!  Sunday  was probably the best day of my life. Because it was Easter we had an extra devotional from DALLIN H. OAKS!!! (One of the twelve apostles of the Lord) (See below.)  Something that he said that really stood out to me is that death is not the conclusion of our identity. When we die we are still the same person and have the same strengths and weaknesses we had when we were alive.  The normal  Sunday  devotional was given by SHERRI DEW! (She was a member of the relief society general presidency years ago and has written several books.) Her talk was probably one of the most inspiring things I've heard in a while. She spoke of the fact that she has never been married and that has been a hardship for her. She's prayed for 30+ years about why she is still unmarried and has not gotten an answer that satisfies her. She assured us that questions are good.  Ques...

Bonjour everyone! So to clear up any confusion, "soeur" is in fact pronounced SIR. Every time I hear my name, Soeur Sellers, I feel like a knight. ;) Soeur Kendall's awesome and also going to Tahiti.  In our district we have 10 Missionaries (4 sisters and 6 elders). The other sisters are going to Leon France and won't stay for the full NINE WEEKS WE ARE HERE! We are doing six weeks of French and three weeks of Tahitian.  Everything is awesome here! The dork dot came off as soon as possible... Pretty much everyone would say,  "Welcome to the MTC," and it slowly drove me insane. ;) For those of you who don't know, a dork dot is a little round orange sticker they put on your name tag for the first day you are here so people know that you are new and can help you.  We have made a couple mistakes (going to lunch at the wrong time and getting lost pretty much all the time), but all in all it's been a great experience.
