1/8/18 Raiatea Week 15 - Dinner with O_
Iaorana Tatou!!!
Anyway, I love you all!!! Have an awesome week!!!
Explanation Later: We ate with them that night; Rava and her son weren't there for the dinner because he got in a car crash... he also crashed into a pole just like me. I'm cursed. Ok!
So this week was super awesome! We
had a couple miracles I'll talk about vite fait because I don't have a
lot of time (looks pointedly at companion...). Well really I just want
to talk about one story. So we met someone this week named Odette who
was a reference from her brother who lives in the states and met the new
missionaries coming here (shoutout to all the newbie missionaries!).
Anyway, Soeur Ma (the soeurs who live in our house) called her to set up
and appointment and she screamed for joy.
Needless
to say we were super stoked and went over there with R_ and her son
who just got off of her mission. O_ was super cute and so excited to
see us!!! Then we figured out that she thought we knew her brother and
that's why she wanted to see us. Needless to say that was a little
weird, but we taught the first lesson and the spirit was definitely
there. At the end we invited her to read the Book of Mormon and she
politely told us no. She's protestant and wanted nothing to do with our
religion but respected us. And so we were going to leave it at that and
then the returned missionary bore his testimony and said something that
offended her. And then Rava bore her testimony (which was so weird, she
talked about a bunch of doctrine we hadn't covered,) and offended her
even more.
Anyway, at this point she was so
mad she just out of the blue offered to say the prayer so she could end
it all. Oops. Luckily God knows what he's doing and definitely inspired
her to invite us to dinner and arranged for Rava and her son to have to
go (we'll talk about that next week) and we had such an awesome dinner!
We just really connected with her and by the end when it was time to go
she hugged us and called us her daughters. I don't know if anything will
come of this, but I had the strongest feeling that one day she'll
accept the gospel, and that was the coolest thing it the world.
